  • Lilote's Anatomy

    Lilote is a strange and unique creature.
    Lilote's Body
    • She stands 130cm/4'2" including her head crest, and her body shape is that of a seven year old child.
    • Her skin is white and rubbery and thicker than human skin and because of its thickness her face has a mask-like quality to it.
    • Lilote has several fluid-filled pouches on the front of her body. They are compartmentalised, so that she is able to bend and twist without compressing them, and they cover her pressure points like blisters so that she is able to lie down on her front for long periods of time without developing pressure sores.
    • She has a large air-filled bladder on her back, which was deliberately made to resemble a Portuguese Man O' War
    • She has a tail that has no purpose other than decoration. It is mobile but not prehensile. She likes to swish it languidly.
    Lilote's Face
    Lilote's features are vaguely human.
    • She has violet eyes rimmed with pink eyelashes.
    • Her mouth and her eyelids are sculpted so she always looks as if she's smiling.
    • Her teeth are pointed, legacy of her heritage as a metal-purifying daemon, but her jaws are too weak to crush ore like her father.
    • She has pink markings on her cheeks to mimic blush, her forehead to mimic eyebrows and on her upper lip to mimic human lips.
    • Her ears are long and frilled and pink at the tips
    • The crest on her head is inflated with air most of the time. She can deflate it and stuff it under a hat, but that's uncomfortable. It is brightly coloured
    Lilote's Pouches
    • Lilote's pouches are hued deep blue against her white skin.
    • The pouches are filled with a super-saturated solution of sodium acetate, which crytsallises when it absorbs heat and liquefies when it releases heat. This liquefication/crystallisation is how Lilote can control temperature.
    • If Lilote has magic to eat, she can adjust the pouches' liquidity as she pleases. Without magic she needs to either stay at a comfortable temperature or to soak her front in hot baths to break up the solid patches in the pouches, which are uncomfortable to lie on.
    Lilote's Bladders
    • Lilote's head bladder acts as an ambient temperature sensor.
    • Lilote's back bladder covers an extensive network of blood vessels on her back. It is the place where she changes the temperature of the air
    • Lilote automatically sucks air through her bladders unless she physically deflates them and ties them down. This the only way to prevent her body from trying to change the temperature.
